Hello

Welcome to My Portfolio!

My name is Kwan Booth. I’m a writer, content producer, cultural curator and director of Otherside Media.

A community advocate by nature and a creative writer by training, I’m increasingly interested in the ways media and culture influence society. My work tends to focus on the intersection of arts, media, innovation and community responsibility and I’m always interested in working with organizations and creatives who share my passions.

What I Do

My current writing and research interests include media and cultural criticism, technology, entrepreneurship, sustainability, futurism and grassroots politics.

For the last 5 years I’ve worked as a journalist, editor and content manager for several institutions ranging from non-profits and news organizations to social networking platforms and new media startups. I also volunteer time with local community organizations-editing content, consulting and upgrading their media strategies.

How I Do It

With such a wide range of interests, my skill set has become just as diverse. I got my start in a community newspaper so I know my way around the production room. I have experience writing news stories and editing as well as coordinating production, creating graphics and laying out pages.

While I started in print I jumped onto the web soon after. I have experience creating content, blogging, editing websites and building audiences through online marketing and social networking. I also know my way around a system back-end and I’m comfortable editing HTML and CSS, setting up and customizing blogs and working with various content management systems including Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress and Zope.

Get to Know Me

I’m usually juggling a range of projects and this portfolio provides a sample of the work I’ve done across various platforms and mediums.
